Since a few days ago I noticed that when I browse reddit.com on Firefox my pc freezes.

This does not happen when I browse reddit.com with Chrome.

Windows 10 with FF 60.0.1.

HI, try disabling the Reddit Enhancement Suite Extension you have installed.

SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)

I thought this solved my problem, but no. Apparently FF freezes only on sub reddits with animated gifs...

Hi, This was a Bug 2 yrs ago but fixed. Please see solution here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1178597 and make sure please you go through it all.

This will not freeze FF.

I think I know how to reproduce this for me. Go to a sub reddit with gifs, for example https://www.reddit.com/r/gifs/.

Now you have to choose the display format (see picture). When browsing like this, FF freezes after a few seconds.
