Do you have other mail accounts/email addresses which are receiving and sending or only the one work mail account? Did this occur after an update ? Maybe your firewall is blocking the updated version. Close Thunderbird. Access your Firewall (which may be part of your Anti-Virus product) and make sure Thunderbird is allowed. Once I had to block Thunderbird, ok it, access firewall again and set to allow. Seems the firewall had not realised the update was for the same program. Then when I started Thunderbird, all was ok. Do not disable the AV Firewall as then the OS may use the default and it will not help to resolve issue. When you try to 'Get Messages' what happens ? What error message do you get ...word for word. When you try to 'Send' what happens ? What error message do you get ...word for word.
