On a Mac, 10.12.2, I can open, send, receive at the Verizon site, but can only open and send in Thunderbird 45.7.0.

I have hesitated to answer because I am no expert on Macs. I'm a Windows tech. Since no one else has ventured to answer, though, I will give it a shot.

First, give Verizon's Troubleshooter a try: https://www.verizon.com/ForYourHome/VZRepair/vziha/Servicecad.aspx?ihaweb=FIX_CSRE

I have no idea how it works, or if it is useful at all, because you have to log into your Verizon account to use it. Let me know if it is useful at all.
