RAM - Firefox suffers
For reference purposes I always have a window with 15-20 tabs open (Google Books), using around 1,500,500k memory. I'd been on FF24 previously, and I never had issues with performance. But since updating to FF45 the browser constantly sticks or freezes for about 2 seconds, which is extremely annoying. There's no increase in memory usage, so I'm wondering if it could simply be the fact that I'm using a 'newer' version. I'm willing to ditch 'modern' Firefox and go back to 24, with its "You're browser is not compatible..." tedium - a little irritation is better than extreme annoyance. However, if there's a fix...

Running a skeletal Firefox with no demands on memory, no add-ons (and no restoration of all those Google Book tabs) is bound to have a dramatic effect.
Restarting/restoring is not particularly demanding, it’s reloading Google Books tabs and, as I’ve now discovered, scrolling through the books to restore current pages significantly increases memory usage. Deleting cache brings memory to just over 1,100,000k - manageable for FF45. So deleting cache seems to be the answer, as Firefox is running smoothly again.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
