now user and password is not correct but sending the correction to my address is useless and I can't enter the Thunderbird program to get my mail

Thunderbird has worked fine for many months. But when I opened the new (?) program it said my id and password was incorrect. Said It was sending the place to correct by email but I can't open the email to find the correction as I can't open the program as the id and or password is not correct.
