how to save and export address book from thunderbird to MS Excel
I need to save my address book contents to a file so as to protect all my contacts in the event of a PC failure and be able to export this.

Open the address book window. Select Tools-Export To open in Excel save as comma separated file
Sorry - this isn't an answer but it's relevant
I can export - when I want to re-import how do I empty the book or list before importing? I suspect my book is corrupt so will try export/flush/import.

Imported book creates a new address book. If this does not answer your question start a new thread for your issue. This thread was solved 5 months ago and the OP is not interested in getting notifications of your questions.
