Unable to install re-size add-on using given instructions--how to?

All I want to do is to add to re-size add-on. The instructions you give (what I should expect after going on the Tools menu) don't give me what I need. They even have different information than what the menu leads to.

I size all my images before attaching or embedding them in email. There are several free image editors out there to do this with. Irfanview and Gimp are a couple.

No idea what you have or have not tried, but..

From the menu bar select Tools-Addons

Click the gear symbol and select Install Add On from File

navigate to where you saved the file and select it.

If you are using the AppMenu button (small square with 3 lines) click it and select Add Ons

I'm trying to add the auto-resize add-on. When I d/l it, I choose SAVE but it doesn't save anywhere except at my DOWNLOADS arrow. Can't do anything with it from there.

Using your instructions everything goes as you say, but it only shows about 7 pre-selected add-ons, none of which I want.

How do I get the downloaded file to SAVE (as per it's instructions) on my HD? Then, how do I get it to showup when I follow your steps???

Thanks!

Am running Win 8 and when I try to save the file, it only will ask what app I want to use to open the file with :<

I save the add ons to my desktop and then when I do the instructions I posted above I navigate to the file on the desktop, find the file and select it, then select OPEN.

When you download something and do not change the save destination it ends up in your download folder. You could follow my instructions and when you select Install From File, navigate to your download folder and go from there.

Using Win 8, I cannot select a location to save the file. It will only ask me what program I want to use to open it with--and gives me a very small choice of apps to use. Very frustrating :<

I completely understand your instructions and used to do them exactly as explained when I was using Win XP.

OK, I was finally able to locate the downloaded file in my Downloads folder. Now, when I go to the Tools menu and choose Add-ons, there is no option to "Install From File", only a small selection of pre-selected addons that I don't want. This same thing happens at that 3 line box area.

On the add ons page there is a symbol that looks like a gear up beside the search box. Click that and look there.

Finding and using that gear icon worked! Thanks so much! Now I have to learn how to use this add-on :D

Is there a way to keep pics from coming into email full-screen? The only way I can get them to be a manageable size is to do a SAVE AS and save them into a graphic format that I can use.

Thanks in advance!

I find that the add-on sizes the pictures for me very nicely! But I also have another app that will do it for me.

Thanks for much for your help! You were very patient with me :D
