Following a windows 11 update some weeks ago on my Windows 11 Dell XPS 15 laptop, Thunderbird failed to connect to the internet. I have tried various "fixes" using Google AI but none has provided a permanent solution. I can sometimes get it to run by repeat clicking or by restarting but this only works on a hit or miss basis so can you help find a permanent solution?

I keep getting a pop up when opening my mail that reads, "The folder on inbox (then gives my email address) could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space and that you have write privileges to the file system and then try again".

I don't understand!!!

for no reason get this message , just go OK says " Cannot be compacted because another operation is occurring" see attached It also does it for other folders & the like Am I accidentally hitting a keyboard combo or button that does that? or just random?

After the update to version 158.0 it opens and shortly afterwards freezes. i have opened in troubleshooting mode, uninstalled the app, disabled antivirus and deleted the msf files.

Nothing solves the problem.

This is actually the same in Firefox, and both only since today, working fine before:

Typing Ctrl-C does nothing, Ctrl-X deletes whatever is selected, but it does not end up in the clipboard. In fact, if the clipboard contains something, it will be removed (Win-V still shows it, but it can no longer be pasted). When copying from somewhere else, pasting with Ctrl-V works.

AFAICT, no issues with any other programs.

Latest versions of FF (151.0.2) and Thunderbird (151.0.1), on Windows 10.

What could be wrong?

I believe with Update 154,0 my thunderbird has been freezing up. I can't see, to compress files or select some folders. After a few minutes everything freezes up. 21 AUGUST 2026

Running Win10, all the sudden I'm getting Not Responding messages, failures to connect to server, and slow deleting of emails. I tried everything: uninstalling/reinstalling; running on troubleshooting mode; checking compatibility. Nothing works. Any ideas?

I use Marblism for my business. With one bot the connection is fine, but I cannot connect one of the other bots anymore. Marblism support says they use Nylas for the IMAP connection, but have not been helpful beyond that. Thank you for any help :)

I posted a question on this forum that I want to delete. I can't find a way to do that. Is there some way to do it? This question isn't really about performance" of T-bird, but about this forum but I was required to make a selection. . . ..

1. Emails won't open to be able to read. They are blank and maybe a few minutes to hours later they will open up and be able to be read. 2. when sending it says couldn't send because timed out then next try it sends but does not show up in the sent file. Also, things do not show up in the delete file. It is very slow to open and log in to whatever the process it goes through as it say "logging in......." This started on Saturday 8/22/26. Please help. I am not a computer geek. I really don't know what is going on. Thank you for your help, Donald

On my PC - Initial problem was T-bird took forever to load and virtually all new msgs went to TRASH and I had to move to IN-Box. Per help from David - Saved off profile, and reinstalled thunderbird from thunderbird.net. No change. Then UNINSTALLED T-Bird (profile still intact). Now just attempts to open "Looking up imap.comcast.net", but won't open/connect and to close the app I must use WIN Task Master. Can't get to any msgs, etc. Also, in the past when I was able to open, the banner or bar at the top of the page had hundreds of email icons. I sometime have over 1000 emails in my in-box!! I have years worth of emails in folders on T-Bird which I don't want to loose. Help. Thank you. I have a "working" version (with the "trash" and slow loading issue per above) on my laptop, so I can access suggestions on that version of T-Bird. You could also send any suggestions to x@gmail.com
