The desktop Firefox has a popup blocker though it does not block all types of popups. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pop-blocker-settings-exceptions-troubleshooting
If you are getting ad popups in new tabs or small windows then perhaps a good ad block related extension such as uBlock Origin will be useful. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
Or since you did not explain how you are seeing these popups in this community support forum thread, a third possibility is these could be web push notifications from sites you have allowed to send you notifications. Instead of sending useful information some may send you junk, spam, fake virus/trojan/antivirus alerts etc. You can revoke/block the sites from sending you notifications. The site links are mentioned in the notification popups.

Hello,
To disable annoying popups, you can either use built in blocking tools or an extension.
First, you can turn on Firefox's built in popup blocker. To do so, go to menu > settings > privacy & security, then scroll down to permissions, then check the box next to block pop-up windows. Optionally, you can click the exceptions button to allow popups from a specific webage,
Next, its possible that the popups you have been experiencing are actually notifications. To disable notificaitons, go back to the same "permissions" section, then find "notifications". After that, click the "settings" next to it, then check the box at the bottom that says Block new requests asking to allow notifications. After that, click save changes.
If popups still get through, try installing a reputable ad blocker like Ublock origin.
Lastly, if all still doesn't fix it, then try checking for malware using a malware checker, or use a built in one, like windows defender for windows PC's.
