No drag/drop of contacts across messages
It's possible to drag/drop contacts from To to CC or BCC.
It should be possible to do so across messages open in separate windows.
But when I try it, it fails.

I'm checking it out. Results: Test: version 140.11.1esr Also tested in Troubleshoot mode Drag and drop from the 'Contacts Sidebar' in message A to Message B works. Drag and drop a contact in Cc /To between two message windows fails.

As I can reproduce the same as you, I've created a new bug report.
You can follow the report and add anything you feel would offer more information.
For example: I tested this in Windows 11 OS. If you use a MAC or Linux OS then it would be useful to know it occurs in other OS. I tested in 140.11.1esr and beta 152.0b3. If you were using another version then it would be useful to add that information.

Developers have been working on this and there is a planned fix in version 153
