Trouble moving emails to Local Folders
I'm trying to move some old folders to Local Folders. They are currently in subfolders of the account, not in inbox. I've right-clicked on the folder and then selected move to>local folders>folder name. They disappear from the imap spot but don't show up under local folders. Can anyone help?

OMG- I just figured it out. I had the Local Folders settings set to delete emails over 30 days old. It was old emails that I was trying to move to the Local Folders, and so they were deleted as soon as I moved them!

Did you try moving emails or folders from an IMAP account to your Local Folders?
I've tried both. I can move an individual email from my INBOX to a local folder, but if I try it with any other imap email or folder, it just deletes it from the imap folder but it does not show up in the corresponding local folder.
Are these subfolders real folders or are they virtual/saved search folders? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=533766
I right clicked on Local Folders, then New Folder, then named it.
I have tried this in troubleshooting mode, but have the same problem.
I've discovered that I can move emails from the inbox or sent folders to their local folder counterpart and it works.
That was not my question. I asked you whether the subfolders in the IMAP account (not in Local Folders) are real folders or virtual/saved search folders
The folders in the IMAP account were made the same way, i.e. right click on account name>new folder>add folder name. I believe that makes them real folders?

Yes! Unfortunately I have no solution since moving messages and/or folders to Local Folders works in my TB installation. Have you tried to use "Copy To" instead op "Move To" ? Does the same issue exist if you run TB in "troubleshoot mode"? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird
Same problem using copy to instead of move to.
Yes, I tried troubleshoot mode and got the same result.
Do you think I should try reinstalling thunderbird?
I just tried re-indexing the emails using the knowledge base instructions, but it hangs on one of the subfolders. I've tried three times.

Congrats, good find! I never would have found this cause.
