using base Thunderbird, custom gmail calendar event reminders cannot be dismissed
I set up some custom (number of days in advance) calendar event reminders of my travel plans in my Google calendar via my cell phone. I have my google calendar linked to thunderbird on my pc. I had accepted the invitations before I left on my trip. (looking at the details of the reminder it shows: "You have accepted this invitation.") I returned home from my trip and have several old flight reminders popping up in my pop-up box in thunderbird. I can try to dismiss them, by clicking on the dismiss button, but nothing happens. They do not disappear. But recurring birthday events from my google calendar, which are also in my T-bird calendar, are able to be dismissed from the T-bird Reminder pop-up box. A new event I created today in google calendar, flowed into T-bird with two custom reminders, but no event invite. (Is the issue with accepting invites?) I have tried unsubscribing and re-adding my google calendar, to no avail. I have tried to clear the T-bird startup cache, both with and without being subscribed to my google calendar, to no avail. Any help is appreciated by this confused user, thank you in advance.

Note this was an issue with an earlier version of T-bird. I manually updated Thunderbird after I posted this message a short time ago. Now with version 140.1.0esr I do not have the popup reminders box showing, even for some events in a few days that I have not cleared. Glad the past events are not showing, but I would still to see upcoming events. After restarting T-bird I still do not have a new reminders pop-up box displayed. I will update my post again if something changes and if T-bird reverts to expected reminder behavior. Thanks again for any help.
I have these undismissable popups too, and in my case it pops up each one twice, which is extra annoying. The Dismiss and Dismiss All buttons do nothing -- the same popups recur each time I start the app, with each already-dismissed event re-reminding me across several days until it's in the past. This is Teebird 140.4.0esr 32 bit under extended-support Windows 10.
Huh, I should probably get a 64 bit version.

I wrote a reply about this, then edited it multiple times, and it somehow vanished. Long story short, it took three tries to update because the 64 bit installer failed, then the 32 bit installer thought it should install in the 64 bit folder (which was concerning) and produced a parallel instance with no knowledge of my existing accounts or mail, but then after undoing and redoing it got it correct. So now I'm on 32 bit normal release... and the bug is unchanged.
