A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting to make the change effective.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

Many have reported issues using the 64bit Firefox. Install the 32bit version from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Looks as either hardware acceleration or an issue with some font(s) since the top entries are about font metrics.

Did you recently install new fonts? You can check the default fonts for the user interface in the Windows settings.

You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).

You can try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.

The 32 bit version did the trick. Tested on a bunch of crashing websites and had no issues whatsoever.

It seems it solved the crashing websites part but now I get secure connection messages on some pages that were not crashing. The pages work fine in chrome and using firefox 64bit on my laptop (who didn't get crashes).

You can check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Right I forgot to change it back after tinkering with it, thanks to everyone for their massive help! I'll mark the change from 64 to 32 bit as the answer to the initial problem
