i am having trouble applying filters on thunderbird

a need to apply filters for my emails popped up so i created one to try it. And a pretty simple one at it: move emails from a certain email adress from the inbox folder to a subfolder. trying to aplly it though a problem showed up: some emails did move to the right folder but some others stayed in the inbox. i tried reapplying the filter and adding more details in the filter search criteria but it didn't work. so i don't know what else to try since the filter seems to be properly created.
