How can I prevent ZenMate from opening a "Welcome to ZenMate" tab asking me to activate ZenMate everytime I open my browser?

Every time I open Firefox a second tab is opened by ZenMate asking that I activate ZenMate. Since I have never activated it, it does not appear on the list of installed programs in Control Panel. I do not want to install it and do not want to be bothered continually with this tab, which is the active tab upon opening Firefox. If I remove whatever it is causing the tab to open, is there anything else that should be removed to completely remove traces of ZenMate?

Thank you for sharing your browser configuration data. It appears next to your question under Question Details > More System Details.

There you can see an extension from Zenmate, and that most likely is the culprit. You can disable it, and perhaps remove it, on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then you can find it on the right and disable it -- or possibly Remove it. If there's no Remove button, then there should be an uninstaller in the Control Panel (or somewhere).

Often a link will appear above at least a disabled/removed extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any luck?

You can check the home page setting

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page

Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.

Thanks for a simple, straight forward solution to my problem. Great to know 'Control+Shift+a' for future use!
