Firefox opens empty new tabs from a link
Hi! On some pages when I click a link, it should open a new tab and redirect to another page. For example when I click youtube links from my gmail letters, or any link from vk.com messages. But Firefox opens a new tab with a redirect link and nothing happens - the page is empty. Even if I select the link in the top and press enter, it reloads an empty page. This started to happen a couple of months ago on different computers that are not synced and have differents plugins/add-ons. Sometimes it works fine if I click a link with "ctrl" button pressed, but not on every site. If I copy a redirect link to another browser, it does redirect and shows the page. How can I make the redirect work again in new tabs?

To find the correct solution to your problem, we need some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:
- Use ONE of these methods to open the Firefox Troubleshooting Information page:
- Click the menu button

and select Troubleshooting Information.
- Type about:support into the Firefox address bar and press the enter key.
- Click the menu button
- At the top of the Troubleshooting Information page that comes up, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
- Now, go back to your forum post, right-click in the reply box and select Paste from the context menu (or else click inside the reply box and press the Ctrl+V keys) to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

Hi, the default action for Firefox is to open links in the same tab, so I suspect you may be using an add-on that changes the behaviour. Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the default action is restored - i.e. links open in the same tab. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

If you want links to open in another tab, you can hold down Ctrl, or click the mouse wheel, or right click > Open Link in New Tab.
There are also add-ons that will do this, such as Open Link in New Tab, and Tab Mix Plus.
