Recent microsoft updates stopped Firefox on my computer,(error 404) but I managed to find a way to update it, but I now have a firefox screen with google as my search engine, but there is no place on the home screen that allows me to sign in to my google account. How do I resolve this, please. Basic instructions would be appreciated, as I am not very computer savvy.

Maybe it's Firefox's built-in home page? On that page, the address bar doesn't show an address, just the phrase Search or enter address. Although the page shows a search box linked to Google, it isn't a Google page.

If you go to Google's home page and it has the controls you want, you can make that your home page. These articles have more information on how:

If that doesn't work or doesn't stick, you might have an add-on or external program that is overriding your preference. Please post back for more help on that.

Thanks, JScher2000, that was a big help, and my Firefox is now working as it should do. Very grateful for your time and trouble.
