Remove "send link to mobile" from right-click menu

cfcentaurea

Suddenly with the latest update, I'm seeing "send link to mobile" when I right-click on a link. I understand this is useful for many people but I will never use it and would like to remove it from the already-cluttered context menu. I don't see any instructions for doing that, and couldn't find it in about:config. It's frustrating to have something suddenly added without my consent and with no information on how to remove it.

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. This is an old thread that might be helpful for you: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1177488

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, after adding the recommended text

/* Hide "Send Link to Device" and preceding separator */

  1. contentAreaContextMenu #context-sendlinktodevice,
  2. contentAreaContextMenu #context-sep-sendlinktodevice {
 display: none !important;

}

to userChrome.css and restarting firefox, "send link to mobile" is still there.

This is something that should be changeable in about.config, at the very least. I don't see context menus as a style issue, so why are they controlled by a css file?

Hi there,

I have just confirmed that Konstantina's solution was correct. You just might miss a few extra steps (I've also forgotten them the first time around):

  • Make sure that userChrome.css is under your active profile, under the chrome directory.
  • Check that you have set toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets=true in about:config.

Regards, Balázs

Thank you. I've set toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets=true in about:config.

As far as my active profile is concerned, it's a little tricky. I had assumed that if I go to Help ==> More Troubleshooting information ==> Profile Folder ==> Open Folder that would take me into to the active profile folder, which is where I updated the userChrome.css file. But I'm using FF-ESR, and I discovered a different profile folder labelled "FF-esr" and thought, aha! that must be the correct folder. So I updated the css file in there. Still didn't work.

But I don't understand what you mean by "under the chrome directory." In the folder, there is just a userChrome.css file. What is this directory and how would I find it?

I appreciate everyone's attempts to help, but the bottom line is I am spending a lot of time on this when I have other work I should be doing, which is what makes it so frustrating when these things are added without providing a quick & easy solution.

Well, userChrome.css does not go into your profile folder directly. For example in my case it's here: u8af43ho.default-release/chrome/userChrome.css
