Why are the shortcuts in the home screen misaligned and not on 2 rows like they should

With the last update (125.0.3), the shortcuts in the home screen are misaligned and only on one row, even though I selected 2 rows in the settings.

You can no longer add empty tiles in within a full set to force starting a set of tiles on the next row if that is what you did. You will have to pin websites to such trailing tiles.
