Touchpad scroll stops working during AVG scan
I've had issues with my touchpad scroll intermittently not working in Firefox for quite some time- probably at least a year. I have most likely tried all of the common fixes to no avail. I have found that if I log off and log back in to Windows, scroll will work reliably until AVG antivirus does a scan or an update. It will not work again until I log out and log back in. Firefox is the only application that is affected.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) with all updates current on a Gateway ID49C laptop, FF version 27.0.1.
Thanks for your help!

Hi!
I figured out how to make it stop breaking when an AVG scan starts. It seems that it's the AVG scan notification that pops up in the task bar that causes scroll to stop working. When I disabled taskbar notifications in AVG, the scans run normally and my scroll continues to work properly. So, I guess I didn't really fix anything, but found a workaround I can live with.
Thanks for your help and assistance. If you find a permanent solution, please let me know. Have a great day.

Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
- Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
- In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
- In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
- Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Hello!
Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I still seem to have the problem.
I reset Firefox to its default state and unchecked the hardware acceleration option. All of my plugins are up to date. Windows update tells me there are no new drivers for my graphics software, but I will check this afternoon at the manufacturer's website.
Thank you for your assistance.
Update: I have checked both my computer manufacturer and my graphics card manufacturer for updated drivers and software. Everything is already up-to-date.
Any other suggestions?

Update/FYI: I also toggled my webgl.disabled to true per the troubleshooting thread and the problem persists...
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems. See "Creating a profile":

Thanks for getting back to me.
When I reset Firefox to its default state, it created a new profile. I did take care to disable hardware acceleration in the new profile as well. Unfortunately, I am still having issues.
Thanks again.
