I am running windows 7 64 bit. At a certain time the downloadspeed dropped from over 40Mbit/s to 3mbit/s. Chrome and IE remain at the high speed.

Computer i7 processor with integrated graphics 16GB memory ssd and harddisk with plenty of memory one computer connected to internet

Had upgrade to firefox 13 and now 14. Speedtest and downloadspeed are extremely slow. On the same computer at the same time is chrome and IE above 40Mbit/s. Firefox 4Mbit.

Even youtube doesn't play properly anymore in firefox.

I have run f-secure, microsoft spyware scan. Nothing helps.

I have removed firefox from my system and reinstalled it... no solution.

Please help .

What Firewall or security software are you running? If you configure it to allow Firefox, does that make a difference?

Thakns for your reply. I use F-secure. I have set firefox to safe mode, same situation. I disabeled the firewall completely. That helped to upgrade the speed to 10Mb where at the same time Chrome was above 40Mb. I did a check with superantispyware. It removed cookies but there was no increase in speed. Firefox itselves is responsive and does it job ok. Just the connection with the internet is a problem.

Solved the problem. F-secure is using Deepguard. Within that process you can activate or disactivate "advanced process control". By deactivating the "advanced process control", the speed picked up to the same or above levels that the other browsers.

Thanks for the help.
