Please upgrade your browser to Firefox 8 and try

Dear swarnava,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

I use McAfee Virus Plus and Site Advisor. Firefox updates do not support McAfee Site Advisor, which is important to me because the desktop is used both by myself and by my spouse, who has less experience in surfing the Web.

Also, the jerkiness appeared only lately and I did not change anything in Firefox for at least a number of months.

Firefox 8 just released so give some time to mcafee to launch there patch, they will do it asap, n you dont need to worry because if web component are active, database are up to date and your mcafee say you are protected then all is good.:)..addon are just shortcut to open like virtual keyboard, show site is safe or not.:)

Dear sawarma,

I am not a technically inclined person, so let me see if I understood: you recommend that I upgrade to Firefox 8 even if McAfee Site Advisor will not be supported. Presumably there are sufficient defenses in my PC that prevention through Site Advisor from linking to unsafe websites is not important.

I have to close for now. I will read your reply tomorrow morning. Till then, my most sincere thanks.

P.S.: I am still puzzled why this problem appeared only very recently despite the fact that I did not change anything in Firefox settings for months.

Dear Swarnava,

First, I apologise for misspelling your name in my last post.

Second, the solutions presented in the discussion about Site Advisor seem to involve uninstalling and re-installing, procedures with which I would be uncomfortable, myself being a totally non-technical person.

My usual "technical support" is my older son and so, I will try to involve him when he comes to see us.

I will also follow up on the discussion https://community.mcafee.com/thread/40285?start=10&tstart=0, in case there is a confirmation that Site Advisor was indeed updated.

I will leave the question open for the time being.

With thanks dmidroni

Hi, Swarnava!

The problem was solved: as you suggested, I checked on the McAfee community group and then decided to reinstall McAfee Virus Plus, which includes Site Advisor.

The You Tube videos have then returned to normal.

As to Firefox 8, I haven't upgraded yet; I'll wait for a while before I do it.

Once again: THANKS!

Update: I have just upgraded to Firefox 8.

The upgrade allowed me to retain some add-ons that would have been otherwise disabled by Firefox 8. I elected to retain the McAfee Site Advisor add-on.

No problems; so far everything works just fine.
