more options

Hello, after updating my firefox to version 6, it became so laggy and slow (scrolling and opeinging a tab). I removed the program and installed it againg but nothing changed. so how can i fix it?

for example i fixed the lag in ie9 by changing an option (use software rendering instead of gpu rendering)

is there somthing like that in firefox?

Its horrible, i click an input field, lag... I type in text right now, lag... I scroll down a page, lag... Even when i hover a link, switching the cursor icon is lagging!

This is EXTREMELY annoying!

WTH i didnt even want to upgrade to FF6 It just said restart please to finish your installation and now its all bugged

Same Problem here using Mac OS X 10.6.8. FF6 lags on every page when you scroll, or when you want to type something in an input Field.

What i saw is that it generates heavy CPU load when this failure accours, normally then i have between 60-80% CPU Load on my Mid 2010 Macbook Pro.

I now reverted back to FF5.0.1, CPU Load is normally under 20% and i have no lags. Sorry guys, but i think the new "Chrome Style" development cycle was no good idea, i have never had such big Problems with any FF Versions before, and i had them all starting from 1.0.

Does anyone ever reply to these post with a solution? I don't mean a referral to trouble shooting or FAQ. Whenever I have a problem with Firefox and do a search I find the exact problem described here with, sadly, a good many other folks having the same problem and no real answers from mozilla.

Go to Tools -> Add-ons -> PlugIns -> check to see if your plugins are up to date -> update anything that needs to be

Also make sure your software is up to date (Apple Menu -> Software Update)

Mine seemed to be Java and Flash that were out of date and causing me to lag. After doing both of the above and restarting the computer, I'm running smoothly (so far)

Make sure add-ons are updated - it made a HUGE difference for me

I had such problem on my windows machine. My solution:

  • Options/Advanced/General set "User hardware acceleration when available"
  • open "about:config" page
  • find "layers.prefer-opengl" setting and set it to "true"
  • restart firefox

As far as I understand you may also experiment with "layers.prefer-d3d9" value (false for me) and "layers.acceleration.force-enabled" value (false for me)

I never see any replies to these forums from any level of support. I have long pauses and to be honest, Firefox originally claimed to be better than IE. Maybe so, but not anymore. Mozilla is so fat and bloated, and the lack of update controls they complained about MS... they now have.... It is a piece of turd. I never liked Safari. I refuse to use anything Google, they track everything. Working in infosec security, they are honestly worse than the NSA. Put your mail there? You get nothing for nothing... now under investigation by the Justice Dept. I am shocked.... NOT.

So what to use... Mozilla went from bad to worse beyond 3.6... Have to get out. They patch, fix 10 things break 20 others. Sounds like ... IE.....
