I cannot access hotmail through firefox 5.0

This is a fresh install. I just formatted my PC and reinstalled windows 7. I have installed firefox 5.0, avast antivirus and NOTHING ELSE. No add-ons, no third party software, no backed up bookmarks. A clean install of everything.

When trying to access hotmail the first time, firefox notified me of some problem with certificates, but I have not been able to get this notification up again to check further details. Trying to access hotmail.com takes me to a blank page.

WAIT! I sorted it out. Answer here for anyone who has the same problem, but I warn you it is STUPID.

THE ANSWER? Hotmail security certificates are valid from 2009. Under the fresh install my PC had set the date/tim to 2007.
