You have to initiate the installation yourself, Firefox has never had the option to "Run".

{Ctrl+ J} to open the Downloads window, then locate that download, right-click on that download and select Open Containing Folder. Then double-click the Firefox_setup.exe file to start the installation procedure.

Firefox is only a browser; it doesn't have the ability to install third party apps other than those specifically written for it like plugins and extensions.

So after you choose "Save file", click the "Downloads" button in the toolbar and then right click the downloaded file and choose "Open Containing Folder", or "Open File Location" to take you to the folder where it can be found. See screenshot for an example of what the Download button looks like.

From there, double click it to start the installation.

To update Firefox, click Help | Check For Updates in the version you're running right now. The upgrade will subsequently take place automatically.

N.B. If the file you downloaded didn't come from a bona fide source, always right click it and choose to scan it with your anti-virus app first before you run (double click) it. That way, you avoid installing malware which piggybacks onto another app.
