I premit I have xp. Firefox has always worked then, all in a sudden it started getting stuck everytime I tried to dload a file. I uninstalled it, cleaned my registry and reinstalled it. Now I can't click on option cause the program freezes. Same if I try to import or modify bookmarks. My pc is virus free.

Delete downloads.sqlite (plus downloads.rdf, if it exists) in the Profile Folder

You may also need to rename prefs.js (prefs.js.sav) in the Firefox Profile Folder
If renaming the file works then you can delete the corrupted file prefs.js.sav.

Probably I did not express it properly... I uninstalled firefox. Manually removed the left over. Cleaned the registry. Reinstalled firefox. Said that I appreciate your suggestion but it's totally useless cause there is nothing to delete or modify... The installation is clean, "brand new". If I click on options or I try to organize (Import bookmarks the program freezes. Same if I try to dload a file from a site. I repeat it: "It's a virgin brand new installation"... nothing is corrupted. Is it clear?

Did you remove the Firefox profile folder, because that is not clear from your above post?

Uninstalling Firefox doesn't remove personal data unless you tick the box on the uninstall window.

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders

I did remove it cause I tend always to remove all the left over when I uninstall a program. Anyway I solved the situation installing the previos 3.5 version. It works perfectly. So, I assume that problem was caused by a bug of 3.6. Thank you for helping
