email transferred from internode to messenger co

my email was previously provided by internode, which stopped. I transferred to the messenger co keeping my email address [redacted]@internode.on.net. However when I activate thunderbird I get a drop down box saying

mail.internode.on.net with username [redacted] failed

I used the option of "cancel" and things worked ok

Each time I open Thunderbird I get the same drop down etc

It is anoying

Does this make sense?

It would have helped if you had explained in more detail what you did in Thunderbird to make the switch to the new server.
