I cannot open Firefox due to an error.

I cannot get into Firefox due to an error message that keeps coming up. Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling it, but it didn't really uninstall completely. I have tried a few suggestions from online, which didn't work. I also tried right clicking on the Firefox symbol and went into some of the different options, but nothing worked for me.

Hi Tricia,

The following article might help you with this issue How to run Firefox when your profile is missing or inaccessible.

Additionally, you may also want to check out this thread to see if it helps.

Kiki,

That did not help. I tried the %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles folder, and I got a folder full of profiles there are now 5 profiles instead of the 3 I had last time. I have no ides which one is the original one. I have been collecting bookmarks and passwords for years. I read an article that told me how to save them since I can see my very 1st ever Firefox with all my bookmarks and passwords.

I also tried the troubleshooting information page which takes me to a web page that talks about application basics which I opened the history and the other buttons I could click on - this is the new profile I didn't even know I was making. There is other information like crash reports, remote features, etc. which mean nothing to me.

How do I figure out which folder has the original profile that I have had forever so I can sync them correctly and not loose any of my info?

Hi Tricia,

If that's the case, you may want to type about:profiles into your address bar, then hit enter. From there, you can see a list of profiles available on your device. You can try one by one to see which one has the data you're looking for.

Once you've found it, you can set it as your default profile and you may delete other profiles that are not being used to avoid future confusion.
