Thunderbird "Important" folder
I was cleaning up my Inbox when I looked at the "Important" folder. I read in a number of places that this is a "Gmail" thing, and messages get in this folder apart from any action etc on my part.
I have a couple questions.
FIRST, are the emails in the "Important" folder only in that folder or are copies in there? I deleted a number of 2 to 3 year old emails that I do not consider important today. The closer I get to this year [2025], the more careful I get.
SECOND, how can the auto-population of that folder be stopped and the folder be deleted? I keep my important emails in designated folders so I can find them.
Thanks in advance
Chosen solution
highlight the account in folder pane Rightclick and select subscribe in next window, untick Important (and also Allmail, unless you actively NEED that folder)

One option is to go online and mark the Important folder to be hidden. Another option is to unsubscribe from within Thunderbird
That's a "gmail thing' and I ignore it.
My comments also apply to the Allmail folder, in case you're subscribed also to it.
Thank you for responding. I right clicked on "Important" folder and unchecked "Include messages...". Doesn't seem to have done anything. I don't know how to "go online and mark...". Sorry, never had to do that.

Thank you. Worked perfectly. Somehow I had 2 "draft" folders, fixed that as well.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad all is well. :)
FWIW, "online" you can choose what is shown by Gmail in IMAP (Thunderbird). Go here in your browser: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/labels
