On a 15" tablet, it would be nice to see the imap folders permanently, so i could drag emails to them. Im a librarian and i like to have a nice structured subject ordered inbox. But i cant find any ways to fix the folders list to the left side..

Have you tried enabling "Show split-screen" under general settings > display.

Outside of this, i'd recommended adding your suggestion on Mozilla connect where the community can up-vote your idea.
