how may i toggle back and forth between the search function and the filter function

I am aware of the special screen where you can enter in your search terms and get a result I find this screen has an overly complex search function where I can get what I need from the simple function the search term you find on the screen where you have the filter function and the emails you want to play with

There are Three "search" functions.

Search message (ctrl+Shift+F) Global search (Ctrl+K) Quick search (ctrl+Shift+F)

Which of these are you talking about?
