As much as I do love Thunderbird over MS, I have been putting up with two issues, which at times I rethink MS.

Upon opening Thunderbird to a full window, very occasionally I open an email and my full window retreats to a minimised window. To click on the window to maximise, it takes a couple of times before maximising.

One other issue is when I single-click on a email, it opens as if I had done a double-click. This can be most distressing when all I want to do is to select and delete.

I do hope that my brain has relayed the message to my fingers for someone to understand.

Have a Happy Thunderbird kind of Day!

In pretty much every case where this is reported, it's a bad mouse. Please try a different mouse.

For the first problem you list, Thunderbird 78 comes out in about two months. Suggest you give that a try then.
