I followed directions carefully for syncing the TB calendar with the google calendar using the provider for google calendar add on.. Events entered in the google calendar are transferred into the TB calendar (lightning) but the google calendar does not update with new events from TB. . I have to manually update the google calendar with an ics file exported from TB.

I think I misunderstood how the system was designed to work. I assumed the home calendar and the gmail calendar would sync, but now I understand that they are separate and do not sync. If I add a new event to the gmail calendar in Thunderbird it does get added to the gmail calendar on line, so I am all set. Thanks

Have you tried another add-on to sync the google calendar?

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/tbsync/

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/dav-4-tbsync/

(The two work together.)
