Server settings to NOT check an account for messages
Hello all,
I have a few accounts on Thunderbird that I do not want to have checked at startup and every few minutes. I've unchecked Check at startup, Check every XXX minutes and Allow immediate server notifications and still they keep coming. Culprits seem to be Outlook mail and GMX mail.
Does anyone know how tomake these not check for messages until and only when I manually check?
Thank you in advance!
RB

If a particular service overrides the settings for checking for new mail, I think you can only put TB offline (File/Offline/Work Offline, or click the icon at the left end of the Status Bar) or switch to a POP setup.
Hello sfhowes and thanks, but not really what I'm after to go offline or POP. I want to keep IMAP functionality... I would have thought surely that's what TB means when it says Check At Startup (checked or unchecked) that that's exactly the kind of control over an account that is intended?
I think the settings in TB work only for servers that accept them. Your experience indicates you have some accounts that work accordingly, but outlook.com and gmx do not. I don't have Outlook installed, but I wonder if even it can turn off immediate server notifications for IMAP outlook.com accounts.
