I just installed Thunderbird and looks very good and much much beter as Windows Mail. I have 3 accounts there and for all 3 disabled check mail at startup of program but still mail comes in immediately when I start Thunderbird. I want to deceide when I want mail to come in because I have an extra mailcheck program in front of it, in which I determine which mail I want to receive on my PC and which will be deleted already on the server... Thanks for your assistance Kind regrds Joost van Steen

Most IMAP accounts download or sync. mail as soon as it arrives at the mail server, so disabling 'check mail at startup' really only works as you would assume when there are no new messages to sync. If you want to change that, adjust the settings in Tools/Options/Advanced/Network & Disk Space/Offline to start offline. You can go online/offline by clicking the icon at the left end of the status bar, at the bottom of the window, or toggling File/Offline/Work Offline.
