does using my gmail in my firefox browser give google access to my browsing?
Just trying to keep google from tracking me. My firefox account uses my gmail address, I wonder if that allows google to track my browsing?

More information about how Mozilla handles the privacy of your Firefox account can be found in their privacy notice.
The short answer is no, creating a Firefox account using your Gmail email address will not give Google access to any information stored within your Firefox account or on your Firefox browser. It's simply used as a method of contact, if you need to receive a message related to your Firefox account (verification, reset password, etc.)
