I'm going to clean-install windows. I already synced my Firefox account. In order to ensure my bookmarks/history are saved do I need to export my bookmarks too?

I'm going to clean-install windows. I already synced my Firefox account. In order to ensure my bookmarks/history are saved do I need to export my bookmarks to a text file as well? Or can I simply re-install Firefox and just sync it ?

Sync is not meant as a backup service. Copy your Firefox profile to a backup. Also, copy any files that you do not want to lose.

Once you are done fixing your system, just copy the files you want back.
