Normally used webpages no longer display all the information after mid December 2016. I have had to switch to Chrome...most irritating....
I have a side business and my back office when logged into no longer shows all the content it used to. The support team for the business advised me it is all visible using Google Chrome. They are right. I now tried to log in to an account to make a payment and the login info would not show. Again, there it is in Chrome, but I have to now go search for the login info as it was saved in Firefox.... This happened starting about mid December 2016. I use Avast Free for my virus and other protection and have made no changes to it, nor have I noticed either of these being upgraded in the last month.
Firefox has been recommended to me by IT pros years ago and I did not like Chrome when it first came out. Not happy that I am being forced to use it...
Any thoughts or others with this issue?

Hi AngST, there are many possible reasons for some content to be missing from a page. The things I would check first are:
(1) Possible cache corruption or obsolete cookies (2) Possible issue with an add-on (3) Possible block caused by Tracking Protection
Here are the details on those:
Cache and Cookies
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Clear Firefox's Cache
See: How to clear the Firefox cache
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Ctrl+r to check progress.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button
In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Extensions
You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
A possibly faster way to determine whether extensions are involved in this problem is to test in Firefox's Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any improvement?
Tracking Protection
The following article describes how this feature works: What happened to Tracking Protection?.
Do any of those seem relevant to the sites you're having problems on?

You can check the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) for error messages about blocked and unsafe content. You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.
You can use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.
Thanks jscher2000! I cleared my cache, but not in the way the firefox link said. Under Advanced/Network, the Clear Now button didn't do anything. I went into Privacy /History and Clear Your Recent History, chose Cache only (unchecking the other boxes) chose Everything, and now both of those pages load all content. Whew!
STILL A HUGE FIREFOX FAN!
Thanks much!
Note that deleting the cache in "Advanced -> Network" is done in the background and can take unknown time to finish. You can refresh this page to check the progress.
