When I press "F8" in [view->layout->message pane] I get the message header not the message. How do I display the message itself without all the header info ???

I had a crash with TB and a some settings suddenly changed. eg had to reset for folder display , folder view (went to vertical ???) and also totally lost message pane. It now display the full message header details but I cannot get the header / message separator to move to hide most of this. I now have an enormous amount of header details with no room for the message. Any ideas??

ps have read earlier replies about compacting the header and I can assure you I have never done this. In fact never heard of it. I am running the latest version 45.3.0
