All of a sudden, I am receiving all of my emails in text only. I prefer to receive emails in HTML format. How can I fix my thunderbird to show all received emails in html?

When I get a message with a HTML attachment, it is embedded in the email as source code. I tried View - Message body as - and none of the options made any significant difference; it still shows as source code. I can save it as .txt, then rename it as .html and then it shows up correctly but that is a cumbersome work-around. I want to know how to see it directly in my email (or attachment) as a readable version.
