What's wrong with it? I ask because it may be possible to help you reverse a change that you don't like. Having said that, the only recent change that comes to mind is the unread messages indication using asterisks.

All past versions are available here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/ but I'm not recommending that you choose to stay on an old version.
