Everytime I update/migrate Firefox to the next version I loose some of the icons for saved bookmarks.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on a Dell latitude 830 with Firefox 38.0.5. When I update/migrate to a new version of Firefox I loose some of the saved bookmark icons. I know that if I visit each of the bookmarks missing their icon I will most often get the bookmark icon back similar to the icon which appears on the tab for the bookmarked site/page. However this is not always the case. As an example i use "https://www.northcountry.org/home/home" as a bank site which does not display an icon on its tab. In the past I was able to use a logo image (see attached) and insert/attach it to the bookmark. The last few updates to Firefox this has not been possible. As of this writing I have several books with a empty box in front of the bookmark tittle. It would be so simple to copy the logo file and paste it to the bookmark with a right click or add a feature to the bookmark file to use a specific icon just like those on my desktop.

The website specifies a favicon in the page source, but this icon and others that use the same folder do not exist on the server (404 error).
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="../images/favicon.ico">
There used to be extensions that can set a custom icon as the favicon, but those extensions haven't been maintained for quite a few years. There is only an extension that can reload a favicon, but that won't help here.
I'm not sure how you got this favicon previously.
The first solution does not work in firefox 38.0. The second solution only works if the target website has a icon.
The third solution tells me that there is no current solution???
