Weird Firefox startup
My Firefox browser (119.0 Windows 64-bit) is at "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" and always starts with the message "Hmm. That address doesn’t look right. Please check that the URL is correct and try again." What is Firefox trying to do?

Check your home page settings.
What does that mean? I'm not sure what you referring to. Firefox is browser and doesn't have a "home page".
Firefox does have a built-in homepage (also called the startup page; about:home and about:newtab) that opens in a new tab/window, that you can find under "Settings -> Home".

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
Thanks, yes, I've looked at all those items. FF doesn't have anything other than"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" under Properties. I can live with it but it's ugly and annoying, and it uses up my spare time - and I expect better from Mozilla!
What is the website address that fails to load?
Does it still happen with all your extension disabled?
You might need to scan your system for malware.
Does it make a difference if you set another browser as the default browser ?
You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
If the new profile works, you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
