Aloha! My Firefox automatically updated and now weird boxes showing up - sometimes instead of text. Please see snapshot image. I love using Firefox however I haven't been able to use it for days now. This has happened to my computer which is a Mac OS X 10.905 as well as my Mac OS X 10.11.6. Can you please look into this problem? Please let me know if I can do anything on my end to fix this problem.

Thank you, Amy

Hi  ! The screenshot apparantly failed to load, but assuming that you're seeing either question marks or the letter 'A' in boxes :

Would you try this :

Type in the address bar about:config (press Enter) Promise to be careful, if asked) Type and look for the preference : security.sandbox.content.level and set its value to 1 (one) (default value is 3 )

Are things back to normal now, or still no joy  ?

I have this problem too and tried Happy112's suggestion and it actually made it worse! I've been having to use a different browser since the 56.0.2 upgrade, which is a bummer. Would like to be able to use Firefox again.

I'm running on Mac 10.9.5

Thanks.

Hi pinecone23, I made a suggestion in your new thread here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1183394

My pleasure - I'm so glad that everything is back to normal  !

Thank you for letting us know  !

Remember to undo this pref change once you have updated to Firefox 57 and reset via the right-click context menu to the default value because this is a security feature and you lower the security by disabling the sandbox.

Thank you for mentioning that cor-el  !

'Didn't know this would be fixed when Firefox 57 is released at the time this thread was started.

Good for you to point that out  !
