why doesn't FF15 display jpg images but internet explorer does? FF will display png, gif, and others.
jpeg images are shown as random color pixels. when I view images information, I can view png and gif files. Internet explorer displays image properly. suspect something in my about:config has changed. when I view flash video, the images are corrupted.

Hi,
You can try to update Firefox and check.
If the issue persists, please check if this happens in a new profile.
If you have security software (antivirus, firewall, proxy, filters etc.) that also provides for content-type checking/filtering, you can try to adjust the settings.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 16.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
- Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
Does creating a new user on my computer the same as creating a new profile? I did that and jpg images still do not display.
Yes, usually it would have the same effect on a default non-customized Firefox installation on a default non-customized Windows installation.
Thanks for your answers. I downloaded Google Chrome and I still have the problem. So apparently it is a computer problem, not a Firefox problem. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
Thanks for the update :)
