have ff 3.6.10, and Java 17. Trying to update t o Java 22.. Shows download as successful, but it's is not listed in my programs. Java says its a problem with Firefox--what to do?

You can update Java by

  1. downloading the installer from the Java site (save to hard drive, close Firefox, run the installer
  2. from the Java Control Panel (Windows Start > Settings > Control Panel > Java, opens the Java Control Panel, click the Update tab, if it is there (newer versions remove this option in favor of auto updates, but the Update tab can be restored by editing the registry), click Update Now).
  3. Update Java:
