I do not want videos to autoplay - I prefer to select which videos I play - but having set all the parameters I can see in about:config the videos still autoplay. I use W11. The settings I have are: • media.autoplay.default = 5 [0:allow;1:blockAudible;2:Prompt;5:blockAll] • media.autoplay.blocking_policy = 2 • media.autoplay.allow-extension-background-pages = false • media.autoplay.block-event.enabled = true

Any assistance greatly appreciated

Is this about playing a video on a webpage or about showing a fixed mini player if you scroll down the page? Some websites use JavaScript in a way that blocking auto-play isn't working properly.

Thanks cor-el, I have checked the information you have provided and the settings I have in Firefox appear to be correct. The issue I have is related to sites such as news.com whereby once I open the page the top news item video commences playing, whereas I prefer to manually select whether a video plays or not. Thanks for your prompt reply - much appreciated.

News.com takes me to CNET. Haven't seen this site in years, but this is what I get. see screenshot Not seeing any video because my adblock and ghostery are doing their job, but let me go into Troubleshoot Mode and see the difference. Screenshot of the issue would be helpful. What version of Firefox?

Changing media.autoplay.default to 5 in about:config stops the popup videos playing for me on CNET.
