My specs are as follows: I3 core 2120 quad core, Biostar TP67xe MB, Gskill DDR3 16gb of ram, Nvidia 8800gts graphics card x2 in sli mode, i disabled SLI and still have issue (just in case) anyways when using FF 64bit latest version updated - 55.0.2 (64-bit) pages load slowly , and the cpu is pegged out by FF. I have tired disabling all extensions and get the same thing? please assist thanks

You can try refreshing Firefox or disabling hardware acceleration.

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

_________________________________________________________________________ Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.,) then perform these steps:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options on Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux.
  2. In Firefox 54 and below: Select the Advanced panel and then the General tab.
  3. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In Firefox 55, the hardware acceleration setting moved from the Advanced panel General tab to the General panel, under the new Performance section. You first have to UNcheck the "Use recommended performance settings" checkbox to see the "Use hardware acceleration when available" setting.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

If the problem is resolved, you should check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in these Knowledge base articles:

Thank you.
