Similar problems on you website but with no resolution. Please explain the issue. All my emails have been deleted in every folder. Contacts still saved.
This has happen twice in the last 6 months. The first time only a few of my folders were entirely missing with others just empty. These folders contained information that was important. The second time on August 8 2017, I lost everything(emails, folders etc) with the exception of my contacts. On the 17 when I opened Mozilla I was faced with a empty screen with a pop up box wanted to know if I would like to create a new email account (why) or open with my old email. Needless to say I opted for the second one. This option gave me my old email but with empty content. I am not pleased. I have been on the website and viewed other similar problems. But with little information available with each q & a, no definitive answer to this issue was posted. What is going on? As stated a volunteer will contact me. Who are the volunteers and how qualified are they if they don't work for Mozilla? Volunteers do not a vested interest as there is no pressure to solve a problem - it's not like their job/lively hood.

Personally I blame anti virus products for the failure. But that is because they are usually poorly written and about as invasive as a virus.

As you might have observed.. I am one of those volunteers. We try to help folk, sometimes successfully. But our ability is often hampered by the skills of the computer user seeking assistance. We can not replace a good understanding of the basics of using the device or the operating system or the anti virus.
In this forum you are very unlikely to encounter someone that is not been doing support here for years and is exceedingly knowledgeable about Thunderbird. We are perhaps all nuts for devoting many hours a week to something we have no vested interest in. but you did not ask about sanity.
You could always load from your backup.
