Error messages appearing only after recent update

After recent update (to version 53.0.3 32 bit) I am receiving an error message on many https sites I was accessing on the previous day. I have no problems accessing these sites on other browsers like IE. The error message tends to be "Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to hdontap.com. Peer’s certificate has an invalid signature. Error code: SEC_ERROR_BAD_SIGNATURE." The discussion on the help page does not seem to apply. I tried using the green button below to "Automatically add" troubleshooting information but that fails.

You can click the "Advanced" button to expand this section to see extra details. If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER) then click the blue error message to expand this section and to show the certificate chain. You can paste the full base64 encoded certificate chain in a reply. Then we can check the issuer.
